ABOUT
Based in Kaduna, Halima Abubakar Idirisu is a Nigerian photographer, researcher, archivist and artist with a particular interest in the conservation and preservation of historical and cultural heritage. Through her long-term projects, Halima aims to questions her surrounding environment by depicting her life experiences. Using a combination of color, texture, patterns, and symbolism—she uses a conceptual approach to the visual narratives she weaves, often through the form of self-portraiture combined with expressionism and diarist styles.With more than 8 years of experience, Halima's work was first exhibited in Lagos Photo Festival in 2012. In 2013, her work was recognized by the National Art Competition themed “IDENTITY”.
